Design Concept
Klon Centaur is the most legendary brand of overdrive effects. Since its release in the 1990s, it has always been one of the most respected effects by guitarists around the world. Its wide, open, and natural overdrive sound makes users intoxicated. At the same time, due to its iconic Remy Martin LOGO, domestic users affectionately call it "Remy Martin" overload.
The Klon Centaur overdrive pedal was originally released at $225, which is still not cheap for an overdrive pedal even 30 years later. In 2009, the final price of the Klon pedal after it was discontinued was US$329. Since then, the price of second-hand Klon Centaur effects pedals has skyrocketed. Now the price of a Centaur Overdrive in the second-hand market has soared to US$3,000 and is still rising. Klon Centaur has become a "financial product" in the field of effects pedals.
Out of the persistent pursuit of sound and paying tribute to that great era, NUX launched the HORSEMAN dual-mode overload effects pedal.
Gold Horse and Silver Horse
NUX HORSEMAN is not a simple copy, it has two working modes: gold horse and silver horse.
The Golden Horse mode mainly simulates the classic Klon Centaur golden centaur effector, while the Silver Horse mode expands the overdriven tone of the Klon Centaur silver centaur effector.
You can quickly switch by pressing the button. The initial state is Golden Horse mode. Long press the pedal and the green light above the pedal lights up, switching to Silver Horse mode. Long press again to switch back to Golden Horse mode.
Compared to the transparent and clear overdriven tone of the Golden Horse mode, the Silver Horse mode has more gain. The HORSEMAN dual-mode design greatly broadens the applicability of the effector, making it suitable for more playing styles.

NUX HORSEMAN uses two Schottky diodes for clipping, and the Gain knob adopts a dual-stage linkage design, which means that when you adjust the Gain, the low and mid-frequency will also change with the Gain adjustment, and the mixed output ratio of the overload signal and the dry signal will also change synchronously, thus obtaining a wide and natural overload tone.
In addition, HORSEMAN also provides two connection modes: TrueBypass (lossless pass-through) mode and Buffer (buffer)! When using an effect pedal alone, use the TrueBypass (lossless pass-through) mode, which means there will be no signal loss even when the effect pedal is turned off. If you are using multiple effects pedals in series, you can switch to Buffer mode to prevent signal loss in the effects pedal chain.
You can switch between the two modes by using the footswitch and power. Press and hold the pedal and plug in the power cord to switch between the two modes. The indicator light is red for TrueBypass and green for Buffer mode.
