First introduced in 1978, Korg's MS-20 monophonic synthesizer remains a coveted instrument today, thanks to its thick, powerful sound, powerful signature analog filters, and versatile patching options.

Today, the sound of the MS-20 has been reborn as the MS-20 Mini. The engineers who developed the original MS-20 perfectly replicated its circuitry and installed it into a body that has been reduced to 86% of the original size, but has retained the original's unique look, which has remained youthful despite the passage of time.

Features

2VCO/2VCF/2VCA/2EG/1LFO structure
The MS-20 mini recreates the unique synthesis of the MS-20; two oscillators with ring modulation, and an envelope generator with hold and delay.
The VCA maintains the basic design of the original, but has been modified to produce less noise than the original.

Self-oscillating high-pass/low-pass filters with unique distortion
One of the best features of the MS-20 is its powerful filters that provide resonance on both high-pass and low-pass. Maximizing resonance will cause the filter to self-oscillate like an oscillator, producing unique and dramatic tonal changes that are unmatched.
The filter circuit was changed during the production life of the MS-20; the MS-20 mini used the earlier filter, which was considered superior due to its more aggressive sound.

External Signal Processor (ESP) for processing external signals
The ESP continues the experimental spirit of the MS-20; it allows you to control the synthesizer using the pitch or volume of an external audio source.
For example, you can input an electric guitar and use the MS-20 mini as a guitar synthesizer, or input a microphone and use it as a vocal synthesizer.

Extremely flexible patching system
The patch panel provides a patch system on the right side that lets you create complex sounds by plugging in cables to change the connections between the various units.
The possibilities are limited only by the user's imagination; different combinations of modulation in/out and triggering, sample and hold, and noise generators can produce an incredible variety of sounds.
Even a beginner can immediately begin taking advantage of these possibilities by tinkering according to the MS-20 flowchart printed on the panel.
